The long awaited brand new limited Gae Bolg release is arriving! The French tribal folk / neo-classical duo Rajna is back with a new album entitled Offering. Four years have passed since the latest album and now Fabrice and Jeanne LeFebvre are finally back with a new opus on the Portuguese Equilibrium Music. What immediately stands out is the crystal clear production which makes every sound and detail audible which adds to the overall atmosphere on this album. The instrumentation consists of various instruments and the musical influences are very diverse, with abundant plundering of World Music from various regions of Southern Europe and the Middle East. The vocals of Jeanne can still be characterized as Heavenly Voices. The arrangements mostly have a symphonic basis and this gives the music a serious and almost ethereal undercurrent. Yet Offering doesn’t sound depressing and is accessible enough for an audience which for instance is also familiar with the work of Dead Can Dance.

We saw them about two years ago in Barcelona, at the unforgettable Mediterranean Autumn Festival. The Catalan trio offered a ritual and evocative performance, playing a rural and primitive folk, framed by a setting made of burnt incense, cones, goat skulls, large arnica branches and a skin totem. It’s exactly this kind of atmospheres that the band now tries to capture on their debut CD, titled “Viejo Mundo”. Àrnica’s ancient world is a Catalonia that has little to do with tourism, beaches and discos: here they celebrate and live a savage land, its mountains (the Pyrenees) and its traditions, dating back at some remote period.

The music alternates hypnotic rituals around night fires (“Ilmatar”, “Urogallo”, “Galdr”) to furious rides at the sound of bagpipes, flutes, pressing drums and snarling vocals (“Hijo De Deva”, “Tu Miedo”, “Caballos Solares” – the latter surely their best achievement). Similarly to other bands in the Percht roost, Àrnica sing exclusively in their native language, which are actually two in this case: Spanish (Castilian) and Catalan. The cavernous vocals,…

[转一篇乐队访谈] 起初我们的乐队名是一个拉丁文的单词，它是关于女巫和魔法的但很快我们就觉得那个拉丁文的名字很难给我们想要的感觉乐队的名字应该有一个更特别的指向那就是源自对大自然的感受，以及我们对自己的家园以及鲁尼文化的热爱同时这个名字也应该有更多自由的空间来容纳其他的主题于是”Sonne Hagal”就诞生了。

这两个词组合在一起反映了恒古的矛盾上帝和魔鬼，光明与黑暗，和平与战争，生存或毁灭正是这些一直存在着的冲突每一个光辉都会有其隐晦的一面，并不存在必然的可能于是”Sonne Hagal”就这样成为了我们完美的象征。

SONNE HAGAL大约在10年前”成立”的我们想以音乐的方式来表现我们对于鲁尼神符的研究我们喜欢创作出那样气氛并从现实和时间中逃逸出来，沉溺于完全自我的欢愉状态。

太多的历史时期能够另我们产生兴趣并将其发展成音乐的主题你可以在我们的音乐中找到许多用古高地德语写就的诗歌一些中世纪的歌词，巴洛克时代的文学小说浪漫主义时期和现当代的一些思想等也都有所涉及。

neo folk似乎是保持我们自己音乐传统的唯一途径来自先祖的智慧和古老的精神其中另我们最为着迷的是它采用了“真正的”乐器比如原声吉他和小提琴的演奏但是在今天，我们也在音乐中使用一些现代手法比如采样，合成器以及鼓机。
